Anxiety

Anxiety is one of the most common public health problems. According to the The National Institutes of Health, anxiety is at an epidemic level and affects about 40 million Americans each year. Also, about twice that number will suffer from anxiety at some time in their life.

Anxiety is a normal human emotion that everyone experiences at different times in their life. Many people feel anxious, or nervous, when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or making an important decision. Anxiety disorders, however, are different. They can cause such distress that it interferes with a person’s ability to lead a normal life.

Brain SPECT imaging shows the brain circuitry involved in Anxiety. It also displays their improvement after the appropriate treatment and demonstrates these circuits returning towards a normal pattern. SPECT imaging offers an additional tool in diagnosing and managing Anxiety and similar disorders.

Our staff and physicians are here to help. We believe that we can offer additional strategies for understanding your brain’s current functioning through the use of SPECT imaging–a functional brain imaging modality.
